Educational Philosophy |

The philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau once wrote: Plants are shaped by cultivation and men by education...We are born weak, we need strength; we are born totally unprovided, we need aid; we are born stupid, we need judgement. Everything we do not have at our birth and which we need when are grown is given us by education.

National Taipei University is aware of its proverbial duty of providing distinguished educational quality and, thus, adheres to the philosophies of LIBERTY, INNOVATION, and EXCELLENCE.

LIBERTY
Education is a means of pursuing truth. Emphasis should be placed on helping students in this pursuit while guiding them to understand that this is a freedom to be relished. In the same light, teachers should be given the befitting opportunities to properly mentor them.

INNOVATION
Free thinking breeds creativity. Creativity breeds innovation. And a university is the space which cultivates all these and binds them into being materialized.

EXCELLENCE
Ultimately, the goal of education is achieving excellence. And excellence is a composition of many elements. It is the aggregation of common vision, collective effort, and continual commitment. Interactive relations within the University and between the University and the community should, therefore, be of prime importance.
