Brief Introduction of National Taipei University

National Taipei University was officially inaugurated in 2000 but it has an evolving history that began with the establishment of the Provincial College of Public Administration in 1949. Later, it became Taiwan Provincial College of Business and Law, then College of Law and Business, Provincial Chung-Hsing University, and then College of Law and Business, National Chung-Hsing University. It comprises two campuses: San-Shia Campus in New Taipei City and Taipei Campus (including Min-Shen campus and Jian-Guo campus) in Taipei City since it was reorganized and renamed National Taipei University in 2000. At present, San-Shia Campus is the main campus for classes of the Undergraduate Programs and the Graduate Programs, while the Taipei Campus is for classes of the Extension Education Bachelor Programs, the Continuing Education Programs, and for some classes of the Graduate Programs.

In Taiwan, National Taipei University is prestigious for its high quality of academic achievement in the fields of law, business and public affair; it is also well-known for its endeavor in educating and developing the highly successful professionals serving either in government agencies or in large private sectors. In recent years, the advancement in the fields of humanities, arts, electrical engineering and computer science is also remarkably impressive. As a result, the university has been twice awarded the grant from the Program for Promoting Excellent Teaching Universities provided by the Ministry of Education since 2009.

National Taipei University is not only one of the earliest-established universities in Taiwan, but also the first one that founded the Evening Division for continuing education. In February 2011, it allied with National Taipei University of Technology and Taipei Medical University and thus formed the University System of Taipei, which was approved by the Ministry of Education as the second University System in Taiwan. Based on the devotion of the previous principals, National Taipei University has grown to maturity in every respect--the scale of departments, the buildings and other facilities, and the landscape of the campuses; meanwhile, the great achievements of this university can also be learned from the teachers’ outstanding teaching and research, the alumni’s accomplishments, and the vital performances (both curricular and extracurricular) of the current students. National Taipei University not only inherits the great tradition and reputation over the past decade, but also opens up a new and bright dimension for the future.

 

Brief Introduction of the College of Law, National Taipei University

The College of Law of National Taipei University was established in 1952. After going through the reorganization, the elevation of status, the establishment e of the Graduate Institute and the integration of three departments (Department of Jurisprudence, Department of Judicature and Department of Economic and Financial Law), it becomes one of the colleges in Taiwan with the long-standing history, as well as the largest faculty and student body. NTPU College of Law just celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2012.

The faculty of law consists of renowned scholars who obtained their doctoral degree from the U.S., German, Japan , France and Taiwan respectively. Our faculty is committed to helping students become lawyers with multi-professional talent in legal theories and practices, with the character of respecting legal ethics, and with the kindness of concerning about the underprivileged in the society. For the purpose of keeping pace with the social development and transition, we positively provide interdisciplinary courses, hold international conferences, and push forward the Joint -degree and Students Exchange programs, so as to cultivate a global perspective for our students. We also spare no effort to build a deeper connection between the College of Law and its alumni network. The thriving alumni communities provide a wide range of opportunities for socializing, networking, mentoring, and passing down legacy.
